Today, we are taking the next step in this continuum through “precision breeding.” Precision breeding combines the best knowledge of genetics with the capability to precisely deliver critical traits to animals to match their production environment, thus dramatically speeding up genetic improvement of animals used for food. The results are impactful, ranging from large genetic companies to small holders.
